Suguan (not Suguam) is the trade name in Italy of an association (marketed by Hoechst) of glibenclamide (glyburide) and fenformin, a sulphonilurea and a biguanide drug, commonly used as oral hypoglycemic agents for non insulin dependent diabetes. Suguan M is the association of glibenclamide (glyburide) and metformin another biguanide drug. Metformin is as efficient as fenformin but has less side effects and is now preferred by diabetologists.
